Caleb was born with two rare syndromes, CHARGE and DiGeorge. Caleb is the 6th person in the world born with both syndromes. CHARGE is a multisystem-effecting syndrome which can cause several severe anomolies. DiGeoerge prevented Caleb from developing an immune system. He spent over a year straight in the hospital, had multiple surgeries with a possibility of having more in the future. This blog details his heroic journey and story.

Tests.
Early morning tomorrow. Heading to Children's, for Caleb, for a Shunt Series X-ray, Catscan, and a visit with Neurosurgery afterwards. I will post any updates when I have them!

Caleb had several anomalies to deal with from birth due to his two rare syndromes. Some have been repaired through many surgeries, others will be managed via different methods throughout his life. Some of these anomalies are: hydrocephalis (water on the brain), agenesus of the corpus callosum (missing the major bridgeway between the left and right side of his brain), kiari malformation (small and low set cerebellum), abnormal folds on his brain, deafness (deaf in the left ear and moderate/severely deaf in the right ear), cleft lip and palate, two holes in the heart, an extra atrium (chamber of the heart), hypoparathyroid, severe GERD (reflux), double hip dysplasia, no immune system, severe delays and aversions, hernias (umbilical, inguinal, hiatal), history of pancreatitis (due to being on IV nutrition for an extended amount of time). The list is extensive but this is a general introduction of what Caleb has dealt with.
